Army Chaplain Corps Crest

These traditional crests were put into service when the Chaplain Corps officially became a regiment in 1986. The crest was changed in 1993, removing the Christian Cross and Jewish Tablets, to better signify the broader representation of other faith groups within the Army Chaplain Corps.

While the original crest was “canceled” when the new crest became available, ceasing production of the traditional crest and having them pulled from Military Clothing Sales inventories, no “wear out” date was ever given, permitting the old crest to continue to be worn indefinitely.

Since production of these crests ended, they became harder to find by those who hadn’t already received one when graduating from the Army Chaplain Officer Basic Course or the Army Chaplain Assistant course prior to 1993.

We have a few New Old Stock (NOS) crests, still in the blister packs, with the original AAFES price tags still attached, available for sale while supplies last. Being over 30 years old, there is no guarantee the package will remain intact during shipping, but the crest will be in new, as-originally-sold condition.

Note that these are the full-size regimental crests worn on the uniform and not the smaller lapel pin or tie tack.
