Lieutenant General Whitehead wrote that sometime between March 1946 and April 1949, the period when he was the Commanding General of the Far East Air Forces (FEAF) as a forward for a booklet which was produced primarily for the chaplains of the FEAF with the hope “that chaplains serving at their various bases throughout this widely dispersed command may thru this medium be knit more closely into a common family by observing the facilities and locales of their fellow-workers.”

This booklet, Places of Divine Worship, Far East Forces, United States Air Force, included in its 50 pages, photos of chapels on air bases through the Far East as well as a brief history of Christianity in the Philipines, Japan and Korea. It is a great look at the commitment to faith development the United States military  had for the Airmen serving in the Far East (author’s collection).
