ROK Chaplain Assistants

In the Republic of Korea (ROK), the Army has a Chaplain Corps similar to the U.S. Army’s. Chaplains in the ROK Army also have Chaplain Assistants who are assigned to them to assist in performing the religious support mission of the unit. While in the U.S. Army, there is no religious requirement for chaplain assistants, and they are assigned to chaplains regardless of the religious preference of either, in the ROK Army, Chaplain Assistants are assigned to chaplain based on their religious preference. So, a Christian Chaplain Assistant will only be assigned to Christian Chaplains, Buddhist Chaplain Assistants to Buddhist Chaplains, etc. Additionally, Chaplain Assistants in the ROK Army where special insignia on their duty uniform identifying them both as a Chaplain Assistant and as a Chaplain Assistant of their particular religious preference. Chaplain Assistants in the U.S. Army, on the other hand, only wear Chaplain Assistant insignia on their dress uniforms.
